This year Major Music celebrates its 10th anniversary. Over the next 12 months we will be hosting a series of events to mark this momentous achievement so keep calling back here to up to speed on our goings on!

It’s Easter Bank Holiday ‘Plug & Play Night’ at The Blacksmiths Arms, Llanmaes on Sunday 4th April. Here’s another opportunity for all parents and friends of Major Music to relax and enjoy an evening of live music. Its also a chance for the music maestros amongst you to air your talents in the friendly atmosphere of the local pub whilst raising much needed funds for Major Music. The evening kicks off around 7.30 with each act performing 20 minute slots, so get there early to get your name on the list for the evening. Normal licensing laws apply.

Just to let you know there will be no Major Music over the Easter period as we are closed for a two week break. Weekly sessions resume on Tuesday 13th April at the usual time and place!
But here’s a reminder to everyone to keep up the practice over the holiday period and in preparation for the ‘BeatlesNight’ on the 30 April)

Major Music will be hosting a Beatles Tribute Night on Friday 30th April 2010, 7:30pm at St Donats Arts Centre.

Following on from the success of  Xmas Rocks, Major Music is hosting its first ever ‘Tribute Night’ . The evening is a show piece event for all the Major Music Bands and will also feature our surprise special guest band. One to watch out for!!
Each of our bands will be given the opportunity to perform up to three songs each, and to keep with the flavour of the evening at least one of the songs is to be a Beatles number.
Tickets are £5.00 available in advance from St Donats Arts Centre, or at the door on the night.
Major Music meets every Tuesday evening between 7.00pm and 9.00pm at the Llantwit Major Youth Centre.

There will be no Major Music Next Tuesday 16th February as we are closed for the half term break. Weekly sessions resume on Tuesday 23rd February at the usual time and place!

Due to issues beyond our control we have decided to postpone the Vale of Glamorgan Battle of the Bands which was to take place on the 27th February 2010. Though fear not, it will be going ahead! However, you may want to keep this date in you diary as we are in the realms of planning another Major Music event which is likely to take place on that very night. All will be revealed shortly once plans are finalised. Call back here soon to catch all the details.

We hope you have all enjoyed the snow even though last weeks Major Music session was called off. Our weekly workshops will resume again this coming Tuesday evening (19th January) at the usual time of 7pm. We look forward to seeing you all!

Major Music were successful in their recent funding application via the Vale of Glamorgan Youth Service and the Vale Centre for Voluntary Services Capital Grant Scheme.
The funding awarded will allow the project to purchase items of new equipment in order to continue, develop and enhance the programme of work and other initiatives and/or events with young people.
Chairman of the Major Music project, Phil Kirkham expressed his appreciation to the body awarding the funding and commenting, ‘….. this funding will enable us to purchase new items of identified equipment and in doing so contribute to the positive outcomes for young people and further enhancing their development and learning opportunities…….’.

Young people involved with the Major Music project were consulted regarding the new equipment required and participated in the actual selection and purchase of the equipment.
